REAL WEDDING: Tanisha and Wardell’s Micro Wedding at Water Works

Why did you choose a Cescaphe Wedding?

Water Works is such a historic landmark in Philadelphia and I would visit this area with my father when I was a little girl.  We knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony and I knew that there was no other place in Philadelphia that I would be happy with.  Although we never attended a Cescaphe event prior to our wedding, we knew that they delivered an experience our guests would talk about for years to come.

Can you talk about the process of moving your wedding date and venue?

Our original date of April 5th was very carefully picked.  It was three days before the anniversary of our first date.  Everything was done and planned; all we had to do was show up. Everything I bought said “The McIntires, established 04.05.20” (cake knife/server, champagne glasses, card box, etc…).  But Pennsylvania shut down and issued a stay at home order three weeks before the wedding.  Before I could blink, the day we worked so hard to plan every detail for was not going to happen.  It was heartbreaking and hard to deal with it at first but each of our vendors made the process so easy to change the date.  Cescaphe communicated with our hotel, transportation and florist, which removed a lot of the stress.

We rescheduled for a new date in August and prayed we picked a date that would stick the second time around. As the new date approached, we waited to find out if Philadelphia would allow an outdoor micro wedding at Water Works.  One week before the new date we received the confirmation that the wedding could happen. Talk about coming down to the wire!  Unfortunately, we did have to cut our guest list from 125 down to 50, but we were able to have the wedding on our new date!

Cescaphe turned the reception into a beautiful Cliffside garden party so that our micro wedding could take place outdoors and adhere to the city restrictions.  Communication with our Event Manager was key, she answered every text, email and phone call.  She walked us through every twist and turn as each detail of the wedding was changed.  I honestly think the wedding turned out better than we could have imagined!

What was your favorite part of your wedding?

The food, service and venue was amazing, but nothing beats being able to share that moment with our guests during a global pandemic.  This year we were forced to sit down and cherish moments like this.  We truly appreciated being able to share our day with our family!

What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms whose weddings have been affected by COVID?

Don’t lose sight of what the day is all about.  So many things can go wrong, but in the end you are marrying the one you love.  If you have picked the right vendors, your day will still be better than you imagined and all the stress will melt away.  Remember it’s still your special day even if the glasses and cutlery say the wrong date!
