This is it. The wedding day. When the venue, the planning and preparation, and thousand and one precise details and special touches all come together. And there to orchestrate it all, to assure that every part is played to perfection, your Maître D’ is there throughout. From welcoming the first guest to bidding the last ones goodbye. It’s an art, and with a consummate professionalism that comes only with years of experience, every Cescaphe Maître D’ is a proven master at it.
Things I Think of So You Don’t Have To
- Makes sure best man and maid of honor have champagne flutes for the toast
- Groom is wearing tuxedo/suit coat for all formalities (toast, first dance, mother son dance, cake cutting)
- Works with the bridal party and parents and makes sure they are in appropriate places throughout the night
- Coordinate and manage time line with other vendors
- Helps you work your way around the room
- Puts out all of your items the day of and packs them up at the end of the night – even the cake topper and bridal bouquet too
Favorite Aspect of Role
A great Maître D’ has to really enjoy people as well as understand them. Every bride and groom is different. With experience comes the understanding that helps me to see what’s happening and how to react; to anticipate the bridal couple’s needs before they make a request; and, most important, to treat every one of their guests as if they were part of my own family.
My To Do List
In advance of your wedding day, I will review every detail of your plans with your Event Manager. As the first of the Cescaphe team to arrive on your wedding day, I will inspect the venue to ensure that everything is in place and ready to go. I’ll check in with the event chef to confirm your menu and any special requests. Upon your arrival, I’ll greet you and your bridal party and escort you to your bridal suite. If you choose to have your ceremony with us, we’ll run through a full rehearsal. In addition to communicating with your Event Manager, head chef, bartender and server throughout the evening, I’ll also be coordinating with your photographer, videographer, and band or DJ. Finally, I’ll make sure everything that you brought is properly packed up and nothing is left behind.
After a most memorable evening, I found the bride crying. I found out she had lost a bracelet her deceased grandmother had given her for her wedding day. I consoled her and immediately began to look for it. After an hour of exploring the entire Water Works with my cellphone light, I found the bracelet in a crack of sidewalk by the gazebo where the ceremony had been performed. The gratitude and appreciation from the bride, groom, and her mother was genuinely touching, but the most wonderful part was knowing that nothing had been able to spoil this bride’s most special day.
